Basel Aero (www.basel.aero) was founded in 2007; it manages the airport assets of one of the largest Russian diversified industrial groups - Basic Element.

Since June, 2012, Basel Aero has been a joint venture of Basic Element, Sberbank of Russia and Changi Airports International (a subsidiary, wholly owned by Changi Airport Group).

Currently, Basel Aero manages airports in Krasnodar, Sochi, Gelendzhik, and Anapa. These airports handle more than 7% of the total passenger flow in the Russian Federation.

Basel Aero is one of the leaders in terms of developing Russian regional airports. Basel Aero ranks among the Top 3 airport groups in the Russian Federation (2008-2012).

The total passenger flow

The total passenger flow in 2012 was about 5.5 million passengers, i.e. 2% more than in 2011, when the Group airports handled 5.3 million passengers. According to the 2013 results, the passenger flow in Basel Aero airports is about 6,2 million passengers (13% more than in the same period of the previous year).

The Sochi and Krasnodar international airports rank among Russia’s Top 10 with a combined passenger flow of two million passengers. Within five years, the passenger flow has increased by 52%. Fifty new airlines have been contracted; the route network comprises 70 new destinations.

Basel Aero focuses on rendering aviation services. Aircraft refuelling, catering, retail outlets in terminals, hotel, medical, and other services have been outsourced.

The Group's main targets are as follows: increase in the efficiency of commercial and operational activity at the account of labor productivity growth, infrastructure reconstruction and retrofitting, development of non-aviation businesses: establishing a centralized airport hub in the South of Russia with its center located in Krasnodar; extending the Group business beyond the South of Russia; extrapolating the most advanced airports management patterns in other regions.

Basel Aero’s development strategy includes increasing its assets’ operating efficiency through doubling the passenger flow by 2017 to 10 million passengers yearly and expansion of the business via purchasing two or three regional airports in Siberia, Kazakhstan, the Urals, and the South of Russia.
